Marshall Centennary 2009

I was fortunate in being given a ticket (cheers Terry) for the Marshall Aerospace Centenary event, and what an event it was too!

It's a while since I've been up there, from doing ground run training with LM Aero, through to RAF acceptance checks on the C-130J's as they came over the pond, so it was good to see the place again. If you hadn't already guessed, I have a soft spot for Fat Albert, well, we did share 11 years together.

The participant list was outstanding, with a number I hadn't seen before, I thought it was very well thought out.

I also feel compelled to write a letter of thanks to MAe, whilst a centenary selebration, it certainly outshone (literally) a number of the regular airshows this year. Whilst parking might likely be an issue, it could be done again, but I imagine would lhave to be a viable proposition for the board. If there were enough recognition of how well this one went, well, who knows......

Anyway, on with the show:

It was good to meet an old acqaintance, I probably spent more hours trucking around the world in XV299 than any other, she could tell some stories!

Arrival of Sally B, a running break startled the birds..

Never seen a trio of Cessna 172's before, and had to laugh at the reg G-Herc

Whilst a Diamond 9 of Tiger Moths looks even better.....

The Vulcan is always a crowd puller, and at MAe was no exception!

Almost teary eyed again....

My favourite shot of the day, possibly the year, I don't think it could have been any straighter

As I have posted elsewhwere, a very good set of images. I notice your Meteor ground shot is missing in this thread!

I would really have liked to have got the same type of shots of the Venom and Meteor/Venom formation as you did. You have some nice sunshine on them.

Excellent stuff.

Cheers

Martin
