well well thankyou darling

YOU tell me your involvement with the tvoc and i will tell you mine i bet that my contribution is a lot biggger than yours not just in the past but in the future aswell

If you only knew half of the things that you pick up talking to the right people then you would understand why i think that 558 will not last much longer than 1 season ish

As for me some of the mods on here know who i am and what my feelings towards the project are i support smiler and the team in everything they do i support the concept of the company and what they need to do

It's the way they go aboutit that winds me up as a post says one question and 3 answers from people who we reley on to promote the project at the shows i am glad he sid it and not me i would be accused of having a go

these people have meetings prior to show to be told what to say and do by the management so you would think they would get it right unless of course the management got it wrong.................. again

B.B Sorry but I don't know who you are....?
Why are parties willing to go to great lengths to hide their true identity on this thread? If you are part of the engineering team then have that in you signature or something? Frankly I am getting a little bored of this " You tell me who you are, what your involvement is" lark ...!

Peter.

I think it is called 'willy waving.'

Burlington Bert has retired his while XL391 is still looking for one.

It is true that all we get at the moment is people trying to outshout each other. I was guilty of this too. But not any more. I NEVER imagined they'd get 558 back in the air but they have. So praise and kudos to ALL those involved, in whatever capacity and however large or small their contribution.

As for the future? There's no real point in speculating because, if a number of posters on here are right, TVOC haven't a clue themselves what the future holds.

Let's just wait and see. I shall be suitably pleased if 558 ever fulfills any airshow commitment. If it doesn't, we just have to mourn a lost opportunity and hope that the inevitable fall out from such an ambitious project doesn't have too serious an effect on other aviation related projects.

They've got this far. It's just time to wait and see if they can keep pulling the rabbit out of the hat.

Good luck to all involved.

Regards,

kev35

friday

It looks ok at the moment for the remaining flight test as planned.

My informant tells me that DT as asked for a very light fuel load around 30 to 40 k so this will not be enough for the DA flights the main objective is to get it off test i suspose this will free up any funds that may be left in the kitty for other things.

No doubt smiler can confirm this for you all.

Best of luck

Whats the capacity of the Vulcan then?

I would have thought 30 to 40 tonne would be pretty much full tanks (depending on config).

Vulcan internal fuel capacity is 74,000 lbs.

30 - 40k is therefore roughly a 45 - 50% fuel load.

Pity I. K. Brunel is'nt still around. The Vulcan would have been flying 5 yrs ago, along with a gaggle of Javelins ,a Shack & a couple of Gannets. As the Duke! once said Fingers out!..........Another summer is nearly over.......People are going to start losing interest!!

Ahh thanks for that. I thought 30-40 k was in kilograms, which I guessed would be full tanks.

Still a lot of money in any language

Looking at the figures with fuel at 6.74 lbs per gallon - it looks like 10914
gallons to fill with Jet A-1 at something like £.90 a litre !

To be honest, if there is a fairly good chance it's going to tip down, fair play to them for cancelling it, before they start paying for all the minor things like aircrew and fire cover...

That’s one expense that never entered into my calculations! Just shows how wrong you can be to make assumptions.

Does anyone know what award Dr Pleming was given yesterday by the Duke of Edinburgh?

I just caught the back end of a local news report yesterday but didn’t get who if was from and what for.

Dr plemming

TWIN OTTER

This one opens up a wide scale for debate and I for one will not start it. XL391 you must be slipping or not at Brunty today my little bottle of ketchup tells me it's a good looking prospect for Monday T/O about 12ish. Hope so this will at least get it off test but TVOC website says it is off now?? Which one is it,on or off?? As for the award, we will see no doubt.

Hopefully a nice fat donation for 558's flying fund. I can dream anyway...

Award to Dr Robert Pleming

Hi, Twin Otter

The Award to Dr Bob was "2007 Preservationist of the Year", Presented at Brooklands by Prince Michael of Kent.
See:
http://www.transporttrust.com/11027.html

Nice to see that SOMEONE appreciates his efforts!

Regards
Paul

Thanks for that Paul.

The hearings obviously going as well I could have sworn that the news report said the Duke of Edinburgh; what also confused me was that he was in Nottingham opening a cricket stand!

Air League Reception

Hello again, Twin Otter

Yes.........Taff's right (as always!) - I'm sorry to have posted "old news", although as I said earlier, it's nice to know someone appreciates what Dr Bob does!
So, was Dr Bob at St James' Palace to receive ANOTHER award?
I sincerely hope-so. He - and the dedicated team behind him - derseve ALL the encouragement they can get.

Regards
Paul

A friend who lives nearby to Brunty has just text and said that she has taken off and is heading in a southerly direction.
