I always thought AGS meant Aircraft General Spares
You can also add to the list: HDA = High Duty Alloy This is sometimes found stamped on aircraft parts. We have a window frame of Whitley N1521 with these letters stamped in it. It took me some time to find out what it actually meant.  Cheers Cees

I believe the Westland Whirlwind helicopter ( HAR 10 ) was 26WW ....

although for US planes types, this site provide informations on inspection stamps, prefix numbers...etc
