Thanks for your message. I did wonder if it was a flying helmet but couldn't be sure. Looking at the pics again, it must be! Thankfully the pilot survived this prang, but I covered it all back up again and left it where it was.

You asked about what you found in this photo. I don;t know if you ever received an answer.

It appears to be a type B flying helmet. I can't tell for sure as I can't see the details.
